Leicester City Sign Santiago Gimenez
Cooper’s main priority in the final week of the summer transfer window appears to be acquiring a new striker.
Although Adam Hlozek was recently linked with Leicester, he has since completed a move to Hoffenheim.
The Foxes are reportedly interested in another talented center-forward from a European club, Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord.
Leicester has inquired about Gimenez, but they may face competition from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest for his signature.
The Mexican striker has scored 53 goals in 89 appearances for Feyenoord, and club legend Mario Been has described Gimenez as ‘fantastic’ according to Goal.
Leicester urgently needs a striker, as Jamie Vardy may not be able to handle a full campaign at his age, and Patson Daka is expected to be sidelined for several months.
Securing Gimenez, a high-scoring forward, would quickly address any potential issues Leicester has in their attack, creating an ideal end to the transfer window.
Tom Cannon and Danny Ward Leave Leicester City
In addition to signing Gimenez, Cooper might achieve his goal of offloading some fringe players, with two stars likely to depart.
Alongside pursuing Gimenez, Leicester is close to completing a £6 million move for Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace.
