Farke targeting Leeds move for “prolific” £5.9k-p/w star—imagine him alongside Rutter – opinion

Leeds United have less than a month to finalize their summer transfer business before the window closes.

One of their main priorities is to replace Championship Player of the Year Crysencio Summerville, who recently moved to West Ham United for over £25 million, including add-ons, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Replacing Summerville’s impact will be a challenging task for Daniel Farke, given the 22-year-old’s phenomenal form last season.

Summerville contributed 28 direct goal involvements in 41 starts, making him a significant loss for the team.

Rather than finding a direct replacement for Summerville’s goals and assists, Leeds may look to sign a promising winger and rely on the rest of the squad to step up.

One such potential addition is NEC Nijmegen’s Sontje Hansen. According to Dutch outlet Voetbal International, Leeds are interested in the 22-year-old forward as a possible replacement for Summerville.

At present, Leeds have Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James as their only senior wingers, following Jaidon Anthony’s return to Bournemouth and Summerville’s departure to West Ham.

The report also mentions that League One side Birmingham City are exploring a move for Hansen, having shown interest in the Dutch market this summer.

NEC Nijmegen are in a strong negotiating position with Hansen, who has three years left on his contract, and are expected to demand a substantial transfer fee.

The exact amount remains undisclosed, and it is unclear if Leeds are prepared to meet the valuation.

If Leeds manage to secure Hansen’s signature, he could form an exciting partnership with Georginio Rutter in attack.

Rutter, a former Hoffenheim prodigy, had a standout season last year, demonstrating his creative prowess.

Despite struggling in the Premier League with zero goals and one assist in 11 games, Rutter thrived in the Championship, making the most of the opportunity to flourish in the second tier.

As Leeds United look to reinforce their squad, the potential addition of Sontje Hansen could provide the necessary boost in the wide areas and help compensate for the loss of Summerville.

With the transfer window closing soon, the club will need to act swiftly to secure their targets and strengthen their team for the upcoming season.
