Ian Darke Claims Everton Star Has Been Sidelined from Moyes’ Starting XI.

The 1-1 draw at Brentford on Wednesday night (26 February) marked another solid result for David Moyes since his return to Everton last month.

Under his guidance, several players have revived their form, including Beto, who has been in impressive goal-scoring touch with five goals in his last six matches.

Beto vs. Calvert-Lewin: Darke’s Verdict

Everton fans have enjoyed watching Beto thrive as the focal point of Moyes’ attack, delivering powerful performances and scoring crucial goals.

However, shades of his inconsistent form under former manager Sean Dyche resurfaced against Brentford, as he missed several clear-cut opportunities.

Despite those squandered chances, Moyes will likely take encouragement from Beto’s ability to get into scoring positions.

Television commentator Ian Darke believes the 27-year-old should retain his place in the lineup even when Dominic Calvert-Lewin returns to full fitness.

“One thing I’ll say about Everton is the boy Beto up front is making himself undroppable, even for when Calvert-Lewin is fit again,” Darke told Goodison News.

“He’s really done well and has shaken up some great defenders like Van Dijk and Konaté when they played Liverpool, for example. Beto has to have the shirt for the foreseeable future.”

Everton’s Striker Situation

Everton’s recent resurgence under Moyes has lifted them to a much stronger position in the Premier League, now sitting 15 points above the relegation zone.

A big part of this turnaround has been Beto, who was previously linked with a return to Serie A but has become integral to Everton’s attacking setup.

Meanwhile, Calvert-Lewin’s future remains uncertain as he approaches the end of his contract this summer.

His Toffees career risks fading out disappointingly, with only three goals this season and persistent injury struggles limiting his impact.

Everton fans now await updates on his next move.

On the other hand, Armando Broja, who arrived on loan from Chelsea, has barely featured due to injuries.

The Albanian striker had previously demonstrated his potential in the Premier League with Southampton but struggled with fitness at Fulham before moving to Everton.

Since joining, he has made only six appearances across all competitions.

He was even selected to start ahead of Calvert-Lewin during Sean Dyche’s final days but suffered an injury in the ex-manager’s last game against Bournemouth on 4 January.

Young forward Youssef Chermiti has also had a limited role this season due to injury setbacks.

However, he was named on the bench for the Brentford match as he continues his recovery from a grade 3 muscular injury.

As the season progresses, Everton’s attacking options will be under scrutiny, but for now, Beto appears to be Moyes’ preferred choice to lead the line.
