Dan Plumley Says West Ham United Would Make Smart Business Move by Selling Mohammed Kudus for His Release Clause
Mohammed Kudus, the Ghana international, is reportedly seeking an exit from West Ham, but the club has made it clear they won’t sell him for anything less than his £85million release clause, according to Sky Sports.
Football finance expert Plumley acknowledged that while every player is potentially for sale at the right price, the buying club must be willing to meet the release clause.
He told West Ham Zone exclusively: “In recent years, clubs have been more firm on release clauses, which are now a standard part of player contracts. If a club meets that price, it’s good business for West Ham.”
Plumley continued, “Every player is for sale at the right price, and if the release clause is met, it’s a solid deal, even though Kudus is a talented player.
It’s simply the nature of the current market—if you’re willing to pay the clause, a deal can happen.”
Liverpool is among the clubs reportedly interested in Kudus, but it’s been suggested they are unlikely to meet the £85million asking price, according to teamTALK.
Given the current situation, it seems unlikely that any move will happen in January, especially if West Ham looks to improve their position at the London Stadium.
As a result, attention may already be shifting to next summer for a potential move for Kudus.
