West Ham’s Transfer Window Off to a Quiet Start with Limited Signings
Jean-Clair Todibo has completed a permanent move to West Ham after his loan spell, while Daniel Cummings has also joined the club from Celtic.
However, the main topic of discussion at the London Stadium has been the uncertain future of Mohammed Kudus.
The Ghanaian international has attracted strong interest, with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea both reportedly keen on signing him.
Spurs have already seen a £50 million bid rejected, but Kudus is said to prefer a move to North London, potentially giving them the upper hand.
With interest from both London rivals, West Ham chairman David Sullivan is in a favourable position.
Football finance expert Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, believes a bidding war could be on the cards.
Plumley said, “Chelsea’s involvement will probably please Sullivan, especially considering their aggressive spending habits in recent years.
Although they’ve just brought in Joao Pedro, that might not rule them out entirely.
“If you’re a selling club, having multiple suitors is ideal—it could drive up the price. Chelsea and Spurs have very different approaches to transfers, particularly since Chelsea’s ownership change.
Behind the scenes, West Ham may be quietly hoping Chelsea push hard for Kudus, considering the high fees they’ve paid in the past.”
Despite Chelsea’s financial power, current reports indicate that Kudus favours a move to Tottenham.
His preference for North London could make Spurs the frontrunner in the race for his signature, which would be a significant boost for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
That said, Chelsea’s ability to offer a larger financial package means they remain a real threat and could yet hijack the deal.
Either way, Kudus appears set to leave West Ham this summer, bringing his time at the club to an end after just two seasons.
