Premier League Yellow Card Rule

In the Premier League, accumulating five yellow cards results in an automatic one-match suspension.

This rule applies only to league matches, so players can still participate in other competitions like the Carabao Cup or FA Cup if they are suspended in the league.

If any of these Leicester players were to accumulate 10 yellow cards during the season, they would face a two-match suspension.

In rare instances, 15 yellow cards result in a three-match suspension, and 20 could lead to an FA misconduct charge.

As of now, the record for the most yellow cards in a Premier League season stands at 14, set by former Fulham player Joao Palhinha.

Yellow Card Reset

Fortunately for the Leicester players in danger, the yellow card count resets after the first 19 games of the season.

This means players can collect up to four yellow cards in the first half of the campaign without being suspended.

However, players who accumulate 10 bookings before the 33rd matchday will face a two-game suspension.

Although this is less common, as most players do not receive 10 yellow cards in a single season, it remains a possibility.
