West Ham United’s reported pursuit of Liverpool duo Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton has hit a reality check, dampening early excitement around the potential double swoop.
On Tuesday, both ExWHUEmployee and The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg revealed the Hammers’ interest in the promising England U21 pair.
Harvey Elliott, in particular, had emerged as a standout name following a string of impressive displays as England clinched the U21 European Championship this summer.
The 22-year-old winger, who hails from Chertsey, has seen his stock rise sharply in recent months.
Under new Liverpool boss Arne Slot, Elliott is reportedly considered surplus to requirements, fueling speculation over a possible departure.
However, Elliott’s price tag appears to have halted West Ham’s approach before it could gather real momentum.
Valued at around £40 million, the Reds’ asking price has effectively priced the Hammers out of a deal, and according to a fresh update from ExWHUEmployee, Elliott is now considered “out of reach.”
Despite that setback, there is still optimism surrounding Tyler Morton. The 21-year-old midfielder, who also represented England’s U21s this summer, is believed to be available for a more reasonable fee.
West Ham are said to still hold a genuine interest and could yet pursue a move for the young talent.
