‘Perfect Timing for Them’: Paul Merson Predicts the Scoreline for Tomorrow Night’s Liverpool vs. Everton Derby Clash

Liverpool and Everton are set to face off in this week's Merseyside derby, with the Reds aiming to move closer to the Premier League title.

Liverpool, currently leading the Premier League by 12 points, will face Everton, who are determined to secure their top-flight status.

Although Everton are 17 points behind the league leaders, they are virtually assured of playing in the Premier League next season, marking their first campaign at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Football pundit Paul Merson has shared his prediction for the upcoming Liverpool vs. Everton clash.

Paul Merson Predicts a 2-0 Liverpool Victory

Merson believes Liverpool have not been as dominant as Manchester City in previous years, yet they have remained ruthlessly efficient and consistently outperformed their rivals.

He also noted that the international break came at a crucial moment for Liverpool, as they appeared fatigued prior to the hiatus.

According to Merson, Everton lack the kind of game-changing quality that could trouble Liverpool at Anfield.

As a result, he predicts a 2-0 victory for Liverpool and backs Arne Slot’s side to claim the Premier League title this season.

“I have to go with Liverpool in this one,” Merson wrote for Sportskeeda.

“I expect Everton to make it difficult, but I don’t see them possessing that X-factor required to hurt Liverpool at Anfield.

“Liverpool haven’t been blowing teams away this season. Instead, they have been consistently efficient and better than everyone else.

“I don’t want to suggest Liverpool are undeserving of the title or not a great team, but they aren’t like Manchester City at their peak under Guardiola.

“Before the international break, Liverpool looked fatigued, so the rest came at the perfect time for them.

“The Premier League title is the ultimate prize for Liverpool, and I believe they will secure it.

If you asked any Liverpool fan at the start of the season which trophy they wanted most, they would have chosen the league.”

Merson also lauded David Moyes’ work at Everton, admitting the Scottish manager has exceeded his expectations.

Liverpool vs. Everton Team News

Liverpool are hopeful that Alisson Becker, Conor Bradley, and Ryan Gravenberch will be fit for the Merseyside derby.

However, Trent Alexander-Arnold is ruled out due to injury, while Joe Gomez remains sidelined.

For Everton, Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil have resumed full training and are available for selection.

Additionally, Vitalii Mykolenko has returned to training after recovering from a thigh injury sustained during international duty with Ukraine.

Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti, who both came off the bench in the recent 1-1 draw with West Ham, are also fit to play.

This leaves Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Orel Mangala as the only absentees for David Moyes’ squad.

As the two Merseyside rivals prepare to battle it out at Anfield, Liverpool will aim to move one step closer to the title, while Everton look to secure their place in the top flight with a crucial result.
