Former Leeds United, Huddersfield Town, and Sheffield Wednesday Star ‘Set’ for Leicester City Move

Leeds United cult hero Andrew Hughes has reportedly left Norwich City to join Leicester City in a coaching role. The 46-year-old was a fan favorite at Elland Road during his playing days and played a key role in helping the club achieve promotion from League One in 2010. Since retiring, Hughes has transitioned into coaching, taking on various roles throughout the football pyramid.

He has worked alongside David Wagner at Huddersfield Town and later reunited with him at Norwich. Hughes has also held positions at Rotherham United, Sheffield United, and was part of Garry Monk’s coaching staff at Sheffield Wednesday.

Hughes now seems poised for a new challenge in the Premier League, with BBC Sport’s Nick Mashiter reporting that he is expected to join Leicester City. The Foxes recently appointed Steve Cooper as their new head coach following Chelsea’s hiring of Enzo Maresca.

Hughes has reportedly been approached to join Cooper’s coaching team as Leicester aims to solidify their position in the top flight. This move would conclude Hughes’ three-year tenure at Carrow Road.

He initially joined Norwich in 2021 to oversee loans and player pathway development. Following Dean Smith’s departure and Wagner’s appointment, Hughes transitioned into a coaching role alongside his former Huddersfield colleague.
