Luis Enrique has reflected on the painful memory of Paris Saint-Germain’s humiliating defeat to Newcastle United in the Champions League—a night that left even his family cringing on the couch.

A Spanish docuseries, No tenéis ni — idea, captures Enrique’s first season at the helm of PSG, including that fateful group-stage clash at St James’ Park.

Before the match, Enrique viewed the fixture not as a daunting challenge but as a “great opportunity.”

He even envisioned PSG achieving a dream win on Tyneside and going on to top their so-called group of death.

However, reality hit hard as PSG suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat. Watching from Barcelona, Enrique’s wife Elena and their children, Pacho and Sira, were visibly distressed.

During the match, Pacho exclaimed, “My God. 2-0? It’s not possible,” while Elena, overwhelmed by the scoreline, sighed, “My dear Luis,” after Newcastle’s fourth goal.

The documentary shows Enrique later rewatching the match alone at PSG’s training facility in the early hours.
