Everton could step in to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja after his potential loan move to Ipswich Town neared collapse, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
The Albanian international was all set to join Ipswich on a season-long loan from Chelsea, having been deemed surplus to requirements by new manager Enzo Maresca.
However, the move to the Premier League newcomers now appears unlikely, even though an agreement had been reached between both clubs and the player.
Armando Broja’s Move to Ipswich Set to Collapse
Ipswich Town, new to the Premier League, have been eager to bolster their attack throughout the summer.
They have already signed Omari Hutchison and Liam Delap, and agreed on a deal with Sunderland for winger Jack Clarke.
Broja was expected to join Kieran McKenna’s squad on a loan deal from Chelsea, with an obligation to make the move permanent for £30 million if Ipswich retained their Premier League status next season.
Under the terms of the proposed deal, Broja, who has been described as a “dangerous” forward but struggled for consistent playing time during his loan at Fulham last season, was not required to finalize personal terms for a permanent switch until it was confirmed that Ipswich would remain in the Premier League.
However, according to GIVEMESPORT sources, complications have arisen, and the deal is now likely to collapse.
While Broja was initially hesitant about a move to Ipswich, he was persuaded by Ipswich’s Chief Executive Mark Ashton and was impressed by the club’s transfer activities as they aim to avoid relegation.
Currently, all parties are considering alternative options. While the deal is not completely off the table, it seems increasingly unlikely at this stage.
Everton Could Move for Broja
With Broja’s move to Ipswich looking improbable, Everton may now pursue the striker more seriously in the final days of the transfer window, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
GIVEMESPORT previously reported that Everton had an interest in Broja, but any potential move was contingent on the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The England international remains at Goodison Park, but with just one year left on his contract, Everton could opt to sell him before the transfer window closes, potentially reigniting their pursuit of Broja.
Chelsea would prefer a permanent transfer for Broja to balance their books and comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
However, they are open to a loan deal if the terms are favorable.
