Tottenham’s Swift Capture of Antonín Kinský

Tottenham Hotspur wasted no time in securing the signing of Czech goalkeeper Antonín Kinský from Slavia Prague during the transfer window.

The North London club agreed to a £12.5 million deal with the Czech side early in the window, completing the move so discreetly that the media only became aware when the 21-year-old arrived in London for his medical.

Although Kinský is still in the early stages of his Spurs career, his initial performances suggest that the Lilywhites might have signed a future star.

His impressive debut appearances have already generated excitement among fans and analysts alike.

Spurs Outmaneuvered Napoli to Secure Kinský

It has now been revealed that Slavia Prague was close to reaching an agreement with another club before Tottenham presented an irresistible offer.

Napoli, the Serie A side, was also interested in signing Kinský as a potential replacement for Alex Meret, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Slavia Prague’s sporting director, Přemysl Kovář, disclosed that Napoli’s plan involved signing Kinský and loaning him back to Slavia until the summer.

However, Tottenham’s decisive approach changed the course of negotiations.

Kovář told Live Sport: “The priority was to agree on a transfer this winter, with Tonda [Kinský] staying on loan until the end of the season.

Napoli came in with the idea of securing Tonda as a long-term replacement for their goalkeeper.

But Tottenham stepped in unexpectedly and acted immediately. Their interest was too significant to ignore.

“We were surprised at first by Tottenham’s approach, but their commitment was clear. Daniel Levy, their owner, personally came to negotiate the transfer.

It quickly escalated to high-level talks between [Slavia president Jaroslav] Tvrdík and Mr. Levy, and the discussions were very dynamic.

“Once it was clear that Tonda was leaving, Tvrdík and Martin Říha did an excellent job securing an incredible final transfer fee from Tottenham.

It’s a testament to their negotiation skills that the deal turned out as well as it did.”

Daniel Levy’s Personal Involvement Was Key

Kinský’s agent, Viktor Kolář, recently revealed that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy played a significant role in finalizing the transfer.

Levy even reached out to Kinský’s father, himself a former Czech Republic international goalkeeper, to convince him that Tottenham was the ideal destination for his son.

Kolář recounted: “Daniel Levy, the owner of Tottenham, personally convinced him.

On New Year’s Eve, he sent a message saying he would fly to Prague on January 1.

“We met in our office in Pankrác. After three hours, everything was agreed.

The father gave his blessing with full confidence, saying, ‘Go ahead, I trust you.’ It was clear that this was the right move for Tonda.”
