West Ham have received a bid from a La Liga side for midfielder Guido Rodríguez, according to information obtained this morning by Claret & Hugh.
The Argentine is among several players the club hopes to move on in the January transfer window.
Despite some recent claims, interest in Rodríguez did not suddenly appear—clubs had shown attention as far back as the summer, when he turned down an opportunity to join the Saudi Pro League.
At that stage, Rodríguez and his agent were waiting for an offer from Mexico that ultimately never came, meaning he might be more willing to accept a transfer this time around.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has already given approval for the player to look for a new team.
However, West Ham are not expected to collect a transfer fee. Rodríguez joined the club on a free transfer 18 months ago, and the main obstacle now is his substantial salary.
He remains one of the highest earners in the squad, picking up more than £100,000 per week—a figure very few clubs outside Saudi Arabia would consider paying.
Like Niclas Füllkrug, Rodríguez will likely need to accept lower wages if he wants consistent playing time elsewhere.
The situation underlines a broader issue at West Ham: the club continues to hand out inflated contracts to players who contribute very little, making it difficult to move on unwanted squad members and exposing repeated failures in recruitment.
