‘Here’s what I’ll say…’ – talkSPORT pundit questions Dyche’s role at Everton

Former Premier League midfielder, Darren Ambrose, speaking live on talkSPORT with Danny Mills on 8 October, questioned whether Sean Dyche, known for rescuing teams from relegation, can succeed with a different style of management.

Mills compared Dyche’s situation to that of Sam Allardyce, who was often criticized for his approach during his tenure at Bolton Wanderers.

Ambrose remarked, “Dyche is like a firefighter who saves clubs like Everton or Burnley from relegation, but can he adopt other styles?” Mills agreed, adding, “We saw this with Big Sam.

His Bolton team, which included players like Djorkaeff, Okocha, and Hierro, could play good football, but after a few seasons of direct play, he was labeled.”

The comparison between Dyche and Allardyce comes amid discussions about Everton’s style of play and their ambitions in the Premier League.

While Dyche successfully helped Everton avoid relegation last season, there are ongoing debates about whether he is the right person to take the club to new heights.

Everton had a poor start to the current season, but after a solid finish last year, there were hopes that the club could build momentum.

While progress has been slow, there are signs of improvement.

However, many believe that Everton shouldn’t feel pressured to conform to modern perceptions of football and should instead remain true to Dyche’s principles.

Dyche, who led Burnley to a seventh-place finish in 2018, qualifying them for the Europa League, has demonstrated his ability to elevate teams.

Like Allardyce, he has shown that he can guide clubs to new levels, and he deserves support as he continues to navigate Everton through this phase.

Dyche’s focus remains on ensuring Everton maintains its Premier League status ahead of their move to Bramley-Moore Dock.
