Mads Hermansen joined Leicester City from Danish side Bröndby IF in the summer of 2023.

The goalkeeper made 44 appearances in the Championship during Leicester’s promotion-winning campaign and has elevated his performance further in the 2024/25 season.

Prior to his injury, Hermansen was leading all Premier League players in a key metric this season, despite Leicester City as a team struggling significantly under Ruud van Nistelrooy’s management.

Leicester fans have been impressed by the 24-year-old’s performances in the first half of the campaign, but his success has also attracted transfer interest.

Hermansen had already been linked with Chelsea during the summer 2024 transfer window after Enzo Maresca’s appointment at Stamford Bridge, although no deal materialized.

However, comments made by Hermansen in September 2024 hinted at his ambitions.

Speaking to iNews, he shared his perspective on playing in the Premier League:

“It was never my ambition to play in the Premier League. But it was a dream. I’m not sure I ever thought I could make it this far.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been dreaming of getting to this level. Now that I’m here, I would like to achieve something and be ambitious.”

With Leicester sitting 19th in the Premier League and facing a likely relegation, it appears Hermansen might need to consider a new opportunity to fulfill his goals.

In the immediate term, however, Hermansen’s focus remains on recovering from a groin injury that has sidelined him for the past four matches.

Leicester return to FA Cup action this weekend with a Saturday afternoon tie against Queens Park Rangers, but Hermansen is not expected to play.

Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy provided an update earlier this week, confirming that Hermansen remains weeks away from returning to action.

“On Mads, there’s no update,” Van Nistelrooy said. “He’ll be out for a bit longer. That won’t change over the coming weeks.”
