Speaking on talkSPORT’s Premier League All Access [24 December], Matterface remarked: “It’s great to see Calvert-Lewin on the pitch every week.

I know he’s not scoring many goals, but he’s consistently playing now, and that’s a big improvement. Injury is terrible.”

Calvert-Lewin Needs to Deliver for Everton

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has faced significant challenges in recent seasons, grappling with injuries that limited his availability during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns.

This season, the striker appears to have overcome those fitness issues and has been available for most matches.

However, with just two goals so far, his performances have fallen short of expectations.

Everton’s struggles in attack are evident—they’ve scored the second-fewest goals in the Premier League this season.

Summer signing Beto has also struggled for form, while Armando Broja, on loan from Chelsea, only recently returned from injury.

Despite his limited goal output, Calvert-Lewin remains Everton’s first-choice striker.

However, with his contract nearing expiration and the team’s need for a more consistent goal-scorer, it may be time for Everton to move on.
