talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara was unimpressed with the praise Lopetegui received, arguing that the performance was no better than what he had consistently seen under David Moyes.

I saw those performances under Moyes all the time. Going away and playing well? You haven’t gone there and won 4-0. You drew 1-1.”

West Ham Fail to Impress

While Moyes often faced criticism for being too conservative, Lopetegui has yet to show significant improvement.

Despite inheriting a squad brimming with quality, the 58-year-old manager has struggled to elevate performances or results.

West Ham’s only goal came from a well-taken Paqueta penalty, while Bournemouth arguably had the better chances over the 90 minutes.

Unal’s free-kick in the 90th minute ensured a deserved draw for the hosts and reflected the balance of the game.

Under Moyes, West Ham may not have played the most exciting football, but he delivered tangible success, ending the club’s 43-year trophy drought by winning the Europa Conference League.

Lopetegui still has a long way to go to justify his appointment.

Failure to secure wins against Brighton or struggling Southampton in upcoming fixtures could see questions over his future resurface once again.
