Robbie Ure Embraces Unconventional Route with Sirius Move as He Keeps Rangers Return Dream Alive
The former Rangers youth prospect recently made an unexpected switch to Swedish football after spending a couple of years at Anderlecht, where he had the chance to play for the senior squad.
He made an immediate impact during his debut for Sirius this week, contributing two assists and shedding light on why he decided to leave the Belgian club for a new chapter in Scandinavia.
The 21-year-old shared, “Every footballer’s path is unique. For me, it was about taking the next step in my development.
I had been playing in Belgium’s second division with Anderlecht’s B team, and I felt I was ready to progress.
“Sirius appealed to me because of their focus on developing young players.
Someone like Yousef Salech came here, performed well, and then earned a move to Cardiff City. That kind of progression was on my mind too.
I wanted to be in a competitive league, at a club where I’d get regular minutes—something that’s really important at this stage of my career.”
He admitted he wasn’t initially familiar with Swedish football but is quickly adapting.
“To be honest, I didn’t know much about the league at first, but playing a match has helped a lot.
There’s no better way to learn than by being on the pitch. I’ve already seen there’s a high level of quality here, and I’m excited to be part of it.”
Reflecting on his time abroad, he said, “Belgium gave me my first real taste of senior football, and I adapted well.
I enjoyed my time there, but when this opportunity came up, I didn’t have to think twice.
“Growing up a Rangers fan, starting my career at Ibrox was a dream come true.
It was an amazing place to begin my journey, and I spent some great years there. Still, I knew I had to move forward, even though it was a special time.”
He added, “I was lucky to be part of such a massive club, and I have great memories. Of course, I’d love to return one day.
It would mean a lot to me and my family, who are all passionate Rangers supporters. But right now, my focus is on the present. We’ll see what the future holds.”
