Ian Darke believes Everton have developed a renewed mentality and belief system under David Moyes, something that was missing under Sean Dyche.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, the football commentator questioned whether the Toffees would have extended their unbeaten run against West Ham United under their former manager.

Since Moyes’ return, Everton have gone nine matches unbeaten in the Premier League. One player who has flourished under the new boss is Jake O’Brien, who had been overlooked by Dyche.

The defender scored a late equalizer against Graham Potter’s Hammers on March 15, keeping Everton’s impressive streak alive at Goodison Park.

Darke noted the significant transformation in the squad’s approach:

Looking ahead, Darke emphasized that Everton must prove to potential summer signings that they are a club capable of competing for European football.

With a crucial transfer window approaching, the club must make a compelling case to attract top talent to Bramley-Moore Dock next season.

Moyes’ best years at Goodison Park, during the mid-to-late 2000s, align more closely with the club’s historical identity than the instability fans have endured in recent times.

While Everton had a quiet January transfer window due to financial restrictions—bringing in only Carlos Alcaraz—the club is determined to add established players in the summer to push for greater success.

“The next step for Everton is convincing transfer targets that they can compete at the top end of the table and secure European qualification,” Darke explained.
