On July 28, Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano responded to a fan on X, confirming that Everton is closing in on signing Lyon defender Jake O’Brien.
Kevin Thelwell and Sean Dyche have been active this summer, with O’Brien set to join new signings Jack Harrison, Tim Iroegbunam, and Iliman Ndiaye at the club.
Everton has been one of the busiest Premier League teams in this transfer window. Following a disappointing season that included an eight-point deduction from two separate PSR breaches, changes were necessary.
One significant concern was their attack, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto failing to deliver.
Despite the additions of Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom, Everton needs a reliable number nine who can consistently score.
Although Romano did not specify any attacking targets, players like Wilfried Gnonto and Armando Broja have been linked with a move to Merseyside this summer.
