‘In talks’: Tottenham are attempting to sign defender Antonio Conte wanted to buy years ago, says journalist.
Tottenham Hotspur need more defensive solidity in their team right now.

Tottenham Hotspur have been prolific in attack this season, but their defense has been a significant concern, particularly in recent weeks.
Currently, Spurs are facing a defensive injury crisis.
Cristian Romero, who was injured in a match against Chelsea a few weeks ago, is still sidelined, while Micky van de Ven is dealing with another hamstring issue.
Last weekend, Archie Gray and Djed Spence had to step in as makeshift center-backs, which highlights the severity of the problem.
With their defensive options dwindling, Tottenham desperately need additional cover.
Fortunately, according to Duncan Castles, speaking on The Transfers Podcast, help could be on the horizon.
Castles reports that Tottenham are in talks with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) over the potential signing of Milan Skriniar.
Spurs in Talks with PSG Over Milan Skriniar Castles reveals that Tottenham are negotiating with PSG about bringing Skriniar to north London.
Although Ko Itakura has also been linked with Spurs, Skriniar appears to be the main target, and PSG are reportedly willing to let the former Inter Milan defender go.

According to Castles, PSG have allowed Skriniar to speak with other clubs and are waiting to see who will make the best offer by the end of the transfer window.
“PSG will let him go. They’ve allowed him to talk to other clubs.
Again, he’s not a favorite of [Luis] Enrique,” Castles said.
“There is interest from Serie A clubs, and PSG are basically waiting to see who gives them the best offer.
So, this is an option for Tottenham to strengthen their defense with a genuine center-back.”
Tottenham’s Previous Interest in Skriniar Under Conte It’s noteworthy that Tottenham’s interest in Skriniar isn’t new.
Under former manager Antonio Conte, Spurs were keen on signing Skriniar after his impressive performances at Inter Milan.
Conte was a big admirer of Skriniar’s qualities, and the defender had a strong relationship with the manager.
Skriniar’s stats under Conte speak for themselves, and the player has previously spoken highly of Conte’s influence on his career during their time at Inter Milan.
“It’s clear that in Milan, Conte slowly instilled his vision of football in us, making us understand how to behave on the pitch,” Skriniar said, as quoted by Football Italia.
“In the first place, he influenced us with his winning mentality.
He played a significant role in these successes and in my growth, just like [Luciano] Spalletti did before him.”
Although Tottenham were unable to secure Skriniar’s signature during Conte’s tenure, they now have a real opportunity to sign the PSG star under manager Ange Postecoglou.
Given their current defensive struggles, Skriniar could be the perfect solution for Tottenham as they look to strengthen their backline.
