Leicester City Boss Says He's Received No Internal Briefing on Impact of PSR Charges
Ruud van Nistelrooy has learned about Leicester City’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) charges solely through media reports, with no internal communication provided to him on the matter.
Leicester were hit with three PSR charges this week concerning their 2023-24 financial accounts.
These alleged breaches could lead to a points deduction, potentially affecting their Championship campaign next season.
However, van Nistelrooy has received no explanation about how the situation may impact the club or his role.
This uncertainty further clouds van Nistelrooy’s future, as he has yet to hold formal discussions with club officials regarding transfer plans or next season’s strategy, despite a month passing since City’s relegation.
When asked if he’d been given any guidance about the charges or their implications, van Nistelrooy said: “No, I’ve read also on that news.” Confirming that he’s only received information from public reports, he added this was “correct.”
He mentioned having brief, informal interactions with chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha and director of football Jon Rudkin, but none that addressed future plans.
Despite the silence on his future, van Nistelrooy does not feel disrespected by the lack of communication.
“Yes, we can speak, say hello and good morning, and have conversations, yes,” he said. “No, I don’t (think it’s disrespectful to not discuss the future). I feel that I’m doing what I should do and that is my responsibility.
“I moved to Leicester to work here to do the best possible for the football club. I will continue to do so. Of course, you’re working with others and how they deal with it is up to them.”
The situation leaves Leicester’s direction—and van Nistelrooy’s place in it—uncertain as they prepare for life in the Championship.
