Quarterback Russell Wilson is embarking on his third professional chapter in 2024.
The first chapter spanned his illustrious 10-year tenure with the Seattle Seahawks, during which he propelled the team to its first Super Bowl victory and solidified his status as a legend in the Emerald City.
Conversely, the second chapter was marred by a lackluster two-year stint with the Denver Broncos following a blockbuster trade in March 2022.
Now, Wilson finds himself on a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. During his introductory press conference on Friday, Wilson elucidated his decision to join the team at this juncture in his career.
“It’s an esteemed tradition. The opportunity to work alongside and compete with these individuals day in and day out is the essence of this sport,” Wilson expressed. “I chose to come here because I aspire to win championships with coach [Mike] Tomlin and the formidable group in the locker room.”
Although the Steelers haven’t experienced a downturn under the steady leadership of Tomlin, they have faced challenges in recent seasons. Their last playoff victory dates back to 2016 in the divisional round against the Kansas City Chiefs.
“We have a plethora of talented players. Individuals like (defensive tackle) Cam Heyward,” Wilson acknowledged. “And of course, (linebacker) Mr. T.J. Watt himself, a strong contender for Defensive Player of the Year on multiple occasions.”

The Steelers are slated to face the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium in 2024, setting the stage for a matchup brimming with revenge narratives.
