“I’ve been told”: talkSPORT pundit reveals intriguing theory about Ange Postecoglou

Some fans are growing frustrated and have even called for manager Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal.

Media members have also found his post-match interviews increasingly challenging due to his often serious and spiky demeanor.

talkSPORT pundit Sam Matterface recently shared a theory on why Postecoglou appears confrontational in the media.

Speaking on talkSPORT’s Premier League All Access podcast, Matterface suggested that Postecoglou’s serious tone may be deliberate.

“What I’ve been told,” Matterface explained, “is that he’s very determined not to come across as an Australian stereotype.

He doesn’t want to be seen as another Jesse Marsch or have people view him as an Australian version of Ted Lasso.

So he avoids the playful, easygoing persona and tries to come across as serious. That’s what I’ve been told.”

However, this approach hasn’t gone over well with everyone.

Matterface noted that Mark Scott of Match of the Day has had two difficult interviews with Postecoglou recently, while both Matterface and his colleague Alex Crook have also had tense exchanges with the manager.

The strategy may actually be working against Postecoglou.

His effort to avoid stereotypes is instead leading some to perceive him as arrogant, which is adding a negative atmosphere around the club.

Rather than reshaping his image, the approach risks creating further tension with fans and media.

Postecoglou’s previous, more natural approach to interviews made him a media favorite, so many feel he should drop the serious persona and return to his authentic self.
