Foremost among these is the future of manager Erik ten Hag. As Ineos’ season review enters its third week, a decision regarding ten Hag’s future must be made within the next seven days. Although no firm deadline has been set for the evaluation of the 2023/24 season, clarifying the managerial position is crucial as the transfer window looms.
Old Trafford is expected to be bustling with activity during the transfer period. Incoming transfers are certain, but the volume of transactions during Ineos’ inaugural transfer window hinges on the funds raised from player sales. With Dan Ashworth occupied with personal matters, technical director Jason Wilcox will take the lead in managing transfers this summer.

However, his release clause, exceeding £100 million, makes a move to United highly unlikely this summer.
Currently, the focus is on player departures. Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho will return from their loan spells at Borussia Dortmund and Getafe, respectively, and permanent transfers for both are preferred. Finding a buyer for Donny van de Beek may be more challenging, but a sale is also desired.
Several squad players might be sold to raise funds, including Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof. Almost every player in the squad is considered sellable as Ineos aims to generate funds. This even includes captain Bruno Fernandes, although United would prefer to retain him.
