Journalist reveals Lopetegui sacking verdict at West Ham based on what he’s heard
Dean Jones reveals many are unconvinced by Julen Lopetegui as West Ham United manager.
The Spaniard, Julen Lopetegui, has faced a challenging stint as West Ham’s manager, with his team securing only two wins from their seven Premier League matches.
However, one of those victories was a 4-1 triumph over Ipswich Town just before the international break.
Lopetegui has since come under increasing pressure.
Dean Jones, discussing the possibility of the manager being sacked on the Ranks FC Podcast (October 9), expressed that if he were on West Ham’s board, he would consider letting Lopetegui go.
“I’ve heard reports that quite a few people are not convinced by Lopetegui, and there’s been recent tension between him and Mohammed Kudus during halftime,” Jones noted.
“There are other factors here that could influence the situation, but emotions will also play a role.
We’ll have to see if the board is on the right side of those feelings once the international break ends.”
Jones continued, “Honestly, I’d sack him. I think West Ham has got it wrong.
He’s not the right fit for the club, and keeping him feels like a waste of time.”
Despite their recent win over Ipswich, it seems like the team is capable of more.
Lopetegui oversaw a major squad overhaul during the summer, bringing in players like Jean-Clair Todibo and Niclas Füllkrug to strengthen the squad.
While the summer transfer activity appeared promising, the team has struggled to fully gel.
Some new signings have yet to integrate properly, and with Füllkrug out injured for nearly a month, the team’s full potential may not yet have been realized.
Lopetegui’s future remains uncertain amid the team’s inconsistent performances.
