Everton informs Dele Alli that a new contract is possible despite his presence in Como, says Graeme Bailey.
Dele Alli has been focusing on his fitness at Finch Farm since his contract expired in the summer, and he will begin training with Serie A club Como later this month, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The English midfielder hopes to impress Cesc Fabregas and earn a contract with the club.
However, rejoining Sean Dyche’s Everton squad remains a possibility, despite Alan Myers labeling the situation as “odd.”
Bailey discussed Alli’s situation with Everton News (17 December), saying, “He is considering his options, feeling some gratitude towards Everton for helping with his rehab, but his options are open.”
He added, “Como want to assess him, and Everton has told him that another deal is an option, though he is under no obligation.”
Alli has faced challenges in returning to top form after a series of long-term injuries.
Despite this, he has been working hard to regain full fitness, as shown in a recent training video he posted on Instagram.
At 28, Alli appears close to making his return to senior football, but whether that will be with Everton or another club remains uncertain.
Given Everton’s struggle in the relegation zone, it would be understandable if they decide not to offer Alli a deal, especially with concerns over regular playing time.
However, Dyche’s side seems willing to reward Alli for his commitment.
Meanwhile, Como also faces their own challenges, sitting 16th in Serie A, just above the relegation zone, under the management of Fabregas.
