Julen Lopetegui’s era begins earnestly on Saturday evening, with Unai Emery’s Aston Villa as the season’s first visitors.
Emery has transformed his team from a struggling side under Steven Gerrard to Champions League contenders within about 18 months.
If Lopetegui can achieve similar success in East London, he will be celebrated by West Ham fans.
West Ham set to lose out on Tammy Abraham

Tammy Abraham has been linked with a return to London by outlets such as AS Roma Live. However, it appears the former Chelsea and Aston Villa star might not be coming back to the English capital.
According to La Repubblica, the 26-year-old has been persuaded to move to Saudi Arabia, rejecting the offer to join Lopetegui’s project.
A move for Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran also seems to have fallen through, leaving West Ham with less than two weeks to find another striker.
