“Kevin Thelwell’s Rangers Takeover Dreams CRUSHED! Transfer Guru’s SHOCKING Move Leaves Billionaire Kings Stunned!”

New Rangers Sporting Director Eyeing Everton Link-Up at Ibrox

Newly appointed Rangers sporting director Kevin Thelwell has reportedly failed in an attempt to bring a trusted Everton colleague with him to Ibrox as part of the club’s restructuring.

Thelwell, who was confirmed last month as Rangers’ first major appointment of the summer, brings with him extensive experience from previous roles at Wolves and New York Red Bulls.

He will officially join the Scottish giants once his contract with Everton ends this season.

Backed by an imminent American-led takeover, Thelwell is expected to be just one of several key figures to arrive at the club behind the scenes.

As previously reported by Record Sport, he is planning an approach for Everton academy director Gareth Prosser — a former colleague from their days at Wolves.

However, one name who won’t be making the move north is Everton’s head of recruitment, Dan Purdy.

Despite reportedly being admired by Rangers, Purdy will not be joining Thelwell in Glasgow.

According to The Sun, Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear — who is set to become Rangers’ new CEO later this month — attempted to keep Purdy at Everton.

Yet, with his position under review, Purdy is now expected to take up a similar role at Wolves.

The 31-year-old was also linked with Crystal Palace, but Molineux is now viewed as his most likely destination.

Thelwell, described by The Athletic as a “key ally” of Purdy at Everton, is believed to have influenced his departure.

With Purdy opting against a move to Ibrox, Thelwell may now need to explore other options for a new recruitment chief once the American consortium led by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises assumes control.

For now, technical director Nils Koppen — who stepped into the role last November — continues to oversee the club’s transfer operations and broader football affairs.
