“King Criticizes Tottenham Star, Urges Him to ‘Start Doing Your Job’ Amid Recent Struggles”

Bryan King Calls on Tottenham's James Maddison to "Get a Hold of Himself" Amid Recent Struggles.

Former Spurs scout believes James Maddison needs to deliver more consistent performances.

The 27-year-old midfielder has started just one of Tottenham’s last four matches across all competitions, sparking speculation about his dissatisfaction in North London.

However, in an interview with Tottenham News, David King urged Maddison to stay focused and work harder.

“You need your players, and you need a good squad,” King said. “But I’m not sure Spurs’ squad is as strong as people think.

They haven’t been exceptional this season. Five or six of the midfielders are international players. Maddison has to step up and take responsibility.

“One week he plays like an England international, and the next, he goes unnoticed. I’d say to Maddison: you’re a highly paid professional, so start doing your job.”

Maddison Must Find Form Under Postecoglou

Once a guaranteed starter, Maddison has recently seen his role diminish under Ange Postecoglou.

This shift has even led to speculation about a potential transfer in January (via Give Me Sport, 15 November).

Despite the rumors, a move seems unlikely. Maddison remains an integral part of Postecoglou’s plans and will need to regain his top form to reinforce his value to the team.

With consistency, Maddison can remind Spurs fans why he was once a standout performer and return to being a key figure in Tottenham’s campaign.
