Archie Gray Likely to Be Benched for Tottenham's Trip to Nottingham Forest on Thursday
Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham will aim to bounce back from their 6-3 Premier League loss to Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 22 when they visit Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on December 26.
The defeat, which drew criticism and laughter from pundits like Gary Neville, has left the team seeking solutions.
Postecoglou received a boost ahead of the clash with positive injury updates on Destiny Udogie and the return of Rodrigo Bentancur to the squad.
Former Spurs scout Bryan King, speaking to Tottenham News, suggested Udogie might play out of position against Forest.
“Postecoglou doesn’t have many options for changes,” King said.
“His two main defenders and the goalkeeper are out, making the backline look shaky. Udogie could partner Radu Drăgușin at centre-back.
He’s a good size and could play as a left-sided centre-back.”
King proposed a back four of Pedro Porro, Udogie, Drăgușin, and Djed Spence, though he acknowledged the challenge of facing a Forest side with attacking threats like Chris Wood.
Spurs’ defense, slammed as a “mess” by Jamie Redknapp after the Liverpool loss, will need adjustments.
With limited options, Udogie could fill in at center-back, allowing Spence to retain his place after an impressive performance against Mohamed Salah.
