Latest Progress: Leicester City Initiates Talks with Champions League Club for Signing “Incredible” Talent

Ahead of their return to the Premier League after promotion last season, Leicester City is reportedly in negotiations to bolster their squad with a Champions League player under manager Steve Cooper.

Leicester’s Transfer Developments

The summer has been eventful for the Foxes, starting with the departures of Enzo Maresca and Kieran Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea, marking a challenging beginning to their transfer window. However, recent moves such as Caleb Okoli and Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s arrivals, along with Issahaku Fatawu’s permanent signing following a successful Championship loan spell, have injected some positivity.

Reflecting on his permanent move, Fatawu expressed his excitement about returning and focusing on the upcoming Premier League season, stating on Leicester’s official website: “I feel amazing. It’s so good to be back and I’m just back to focus again for next season. I feel so much motivation to be in the Premier League.”

There’s potential for another winger to join Leicester this summer. According to Gianluigi Longari of Football Italia, negotiations have commenced with AC Milan for Alexis Saelemaekers. While Leicester’s initial offer has reached the San Siro, an agreement for the 25-year-old Belgian is yet to be finalized.

Leicester’s Swift Action in the Market

Amid reported interest from Nottingham Forest, Leicester has moved swiftly to outpace other Premier League rivals after initially expressing interest earlier in the week.

Replacing Dewsbury-Hall’s Impact

Dewsbury-Hall’s departure left a void in Leicester’s midfield, and while Saelemaekers may not directly replicate his role, he can contribute significantly with his creative abilities. Following a successful stint at Bologna, where he contributed to their surprising Champions League qualification in Serie A, Saelemaekers now has the opportunity to make an impact in Leicester’s bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

With accolades like “incredible” from Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig, Saelemaekers appears poised to make a substantial difference for Leicester under Cooper’s guidance starting in August.
