Bryan Gil and Tottenham agree to part ways
Bryan Gil has announced his intention to leave Spurs this summer, with both parties in agreement.
According to Estadio Deportivo, the £21.6m forward — currently on loan at Girona — stated: “They (Spurs) told me, and I told them, that it’s best we are no longer linked.
There’s no problem or bad feelings — quite the opposite.
They believed in me when I was young and treated me well, but if I return, I’ll give my best as always.”
Gil, signed from Sevilla in July 2021 in a £21.6m deal that saw Erik Lamela head the other way, made 43 appearances for Tottenham.
However, he failed to score and registered only two assists during his time in north London.
Spurs set to save significantly on wages
Surprisingly, Gil earns £83,000 per week at Tottenham, according to Salary Sport — a higher wage than key players such as Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray, and Lucas Bergvall, all crucial under Postecoglou.
By offloading the 24-year-old, Spurs will free up substantial funds, which could be redirected towards offering an attractive salary to new signings.
One such target is Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, whom Tottenham are keen to bring to north London.
