Sources: Liam Cooper to Rejoin Hull City After Leaving Leeds United
The 32-year-old Liam Cooper was seen in owner Ali Acun Ilicali’s box at the MKM Stadium during Hull City’s 0-0 draw against Millwall on Saturday.
Cooper departed Leeds United at the end of June when his contract at Elland Road expired.
Hull City manager Tim Walter is currently seeking a new centre-back to strengthen his defensive options following his appointment as Liam Rosenior’s replacement.
Liam Cooper Set for Hull City Return After Leeds Departure
Cooper began his career at Hull City, coming up through the youth ranks before being promoted to the first team in 2008.
However, his chances at his hometown club were limited, with only 17 senior appearances.
The Scotland international moved to Chesterfield in 2013, and his strong performances there led to a transfer to Leeds United a year later.
During his decade at Elland Road, Cooper made 284 appearances and served as captain for several years.
He played a key role in the Leeds squad that achieved promotion to the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa, but his playing time significantly decreased last season with the arrival of Daniel Farke, managing just 19 appearances.
After his Leeds contract expired in June, Cooper has now agreed to return to Hull City, more than ten years after leaving the club.
Walter’s team has had a slow start to the season, with three draws in their Championship games and a Carabao Cup first-round defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
