Leeds Star Could Earn First League Start Against Burnley Following Farke’s Latest Comments

Leeds United entered the international break in excellent form, securing seven points from their last three matches, with three clean sheets and four goals.

The early pressure has eased as they sit comfortably in fourth place after four games. Facing sixth-place Burnley, Daniel Farke now has some key decisions to make, particularly regarding his midfield selections.

In his pre-match press conference on 12 September, Farke hinted at his potential choices. He said, “I want to give a mention to Joe Rothwell.

I don’t think he has played a bad pass since I started working with him. I like his passing skills, and what he did in pre-season.”

Farke also mentioned the competition in midfield, with Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, and now Ao Tanaka offering solid options.

With few injuries to contend with after the break, Farke must decide quickly whether to involve Rothwell against Burnley.

The 29-year-old Rothwell has played just 51 minutes in his four league appearances this season, having had more game time in the EFL Cup defeat against Middlesbrough.

Given Burnley’s strength under manager Scott Parker, Farke may consider adding Rothwell to the midfield for his Championship experience.

Farke is generally reluctant to make many changes to his starting lineup.

However, with players returning from international duty and the rigors of a long Championship season ahead, Rothwell could be a dependable option.

While Ampadu and Gruev have formed a strong midfield duo, Farke will likely need to rotate his squad to keep players fresh for the challenges ahead.
