Paul Robinson has advised Leeds United to prioritize signing a right-back this summer, particularly with their interest in Montpellier’s Falaye Sacko. Reports suggest Leeds are keen on the 29-year-old as they aim to bolster their defensive lineup.
Manager Daniel Farke is eager to strengthen the squad to enhance their chances of securing automatic promotion from the Championship next season. Leeds narrowly missed out on a return to the Premier League last season, finishing third in the table before losing in the play-off final to Southampton.
Farke faces the challenge of delivering a top-two finish at Elland Road in their upcoming second season back in the Championship. Robinson emphasized the departures of Luke Ayling, Jamie Shackleton, and Archie Gray, highlighting the need for a new right-back this summer.
While acknowledging Sacko’s versatility across the backline, Robinson stressed the importance of acquiring a dedicated full-back to address the position.
“The right-back area is crucial for Leeds,” Robinson commented via MOT Leeds News. “Luke Ayling departed to Middlesbrough midway through last season, Archie Gray filled in at right-back in the latter part of the season, and Jamie Shackleton has also left.”
