West Ham United are reportedly aiming to beat several European clubs in the race to sign Stuttgart’s rising star Nick Woltemade this summer.
The Hammers are said to be monitoring the 23-year-old forward closely as they seek to strengthen their attacking options under new manager Graham Potter.
According to CaughtOffside, Woltemade is fast becoming one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents following a breakout season with Stuttgart.
The towering 6ft 6in striker scored 17 goals and provided three assists across all competitions, helping propel his team to a top-half Bundesliga finish and a DFB-Pokal triumph, which secured Europa League qualification.
Stuttgart signed Woltemade from Werder Bremen at the start of the season on a four-year deal, and his performances have since earned him a call-up to the German national team for the upcoming Nations League semi-finals.
His rapid rise has alerted several top clubs, including West Ham, who are believed to be seriously considering a move.
While Stuttgart would ideally like to keep their homegrown star for another year, they are reportedly open to negotiations if offers in the region of €45–50 million (£37.7m–£42m) are submitted.
They acknowledge Woltemade’s rising market value and are prepared to entertain serious bids this summer.
West Ham, now under the guidance of Potter, may look to overhaul their attack following the struggles of Niclas Füllkrug.
