Leeds United forward on loan has gone eight months without scoring, netting just once in 2024.
In the summer of 2023, Leeds United had to say farewell to several players on loan after their relegation to the Championship, and this summer, five more players left on loan.
Victor Orta’s decision to include a relegation loan clause in player contracts led to the temporary departure of eight senior players during the summer of 2023.
This move prevented Leeds from selling these players and generating funds for new signings.
Since that time, four players have left the club permanently, while two—Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson—have returned to Leeds and rejoined the squad.
However, two players have seen that relegation loan clause activated for a second consecutive summer.
In the most recent transfer window, five players left Leeds on loan, with two utilizing Orta’s clause once again.
Sam Greenwood, Sonny Perkins, and Darko Gyabi joined Championship and League One clubs for the season.
Meanwhile, Rasmus Kristensen invoked Orta’s clause again and moved to Frankfurt, where he joined Robin Koch.
Jack Harrison returned to Everton, where he had already spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Goodison Park.
Harrison’s poor form at Everton has continued. Leeds fans will remember Harrison’s five-year tenure at the club, where his performances were often inconsistent.
He would go through spells of regularly scoring and creating goals, only to endure prolonged periods without making an impact.
This inconsistency has followed him to Everton, where he has not scored in eight months, his last goal coming against Tottenham in February 2024.
That strike remains his only goal of the year, and he has now gone 21 matches without registering a goal or assist for Sean Dyche’s struggling Everton side.
Both Harrison and the team have been battling to find the form needed to avoid being dragged into another relegation battle.
There are questions surrounding Harrison’s future at Everton and whether his loan includes a permanent transfer clause.
While it’s highly unlikely that Harrison will return to Leeds and play for them again, given that he has left on a two-year loan, his contract with the club runs until the summer of 2028.
As things stand, there is no permanent clause in his Everton loan deal, and his current form is not impressive enough to entice the Toffees into making the deal permanent.
If Harrison’s performances don’t improve, Leeds may find themselves needing to either find a buyer for him next summer or reintegrate him back into their squad.
