Leeds United Hit with ‘Transfer Blow’ by Jose Mourinho as Relegated Club Targets Former Player

New Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to retain Bright Osayi-Samuel this summer. Leeds United has been linked with the former QPR player, with reports of their interest surfacing in March. Wolves have also shown interest in the Nigerian international, who has spent three and a half years with Fenerbahce. According to Vatan, via Sport Witness, Mourinho is eager to keep Osayi-Samuel, with the club even pushing for a contract renewal.
Osayi-Samuel made 39 appearances for Fenerbahce last season, including 15 in the Conference League. He scored four goals and provided six assists, highlighting his attacking capabilities, which likely caught Leeds’ attention if the reports are accurate.
Meanwhile, League One side Birmingham City is reportedly interested in former Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell. The Blues, having dropped out of the Championship last month, have already signed goalkeeper Ryan Allsop from Hull City. However, with John Ruddy’s future uncertain, they seek additional competition for Allsop.
Neil Moxley of the Mirror reports that Peacock-Farrell, with a year left on his Burnley contract, is a target for Birmingham. The 27-year-old Northern Ireland international spent last season on loan at Danish top-flight club Aarhus, where he kept 11 clean sheets in 28 matches.
Peacock-Farrell left Leeds for Burnley in 2019 but has made just 24 appearances for the club. During his time at Leeds, he played 41 matches after progressing through the youth system at Thorp Arch.
