Leeds United join transfer race to sign Liverpool full-back on loan

Leeds United have joined QPR in the race to sign Liverpool full-back Owen Beck, according to reports.

Liverpool insider Dave Ockop claims the Whites and the London outfit are keen on a loan move for the young Reds defender, with Daniel Farke’s side looking to bolster their options at full-back this summer.

Junior Firpo and Sam Byram have both had to contend with injury issues during their Elland Road tenures, prompting Leeds to seek more depth in that area.

Scottish Premiership side Celtic are also keen on signing the 22-year-old defender who impressed on loan with Dundee last season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are said to be some way off the Reds’ valuation of £3m, with Liverpool hoping to tie the left-back down to a new deal before sending him out on loan.

Beck missed both of Liverpool’s games this weekend against Sevilla and Las Palmas due to illness but is highly regarded at Anfield despite his limited game time.

Jurgen Klopp recalled the Welsh youngster from his loan spell with Dundee in January and said at the time: “We always were pretty positive about him.

It makes sense after losing our two left-backs that a boy we like is available for us, so we brought him back.”

The Wrexham-born defender re-joined the Scottish outfit at the end of the January window once Liverpool’s injury woes had subsided.

He made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Dee.
