Leeds United Nearing Fourth Summer Signing with £5m Deal ‘Agreed’

Leeds United are nearing their fourth signing of the summer transfer window with a £5 million deal for Sheffield United defender Jayden Bogle reportedly close.

The 23-year-old has been on Leeds’ radar all summer, but initial negotiations saw the two clubs far apart in their valuations. Sheffield United initially demanded £7 million for the right-back, who has a full season of Premier League experience, while Leeds’ initial offer was significantly lower.

It now appears the clubs have agreed on a £5 million fee for Bogle, with the player set to undergo a medical at Thorp Arch. If all goes well, he could join the squad for their pre-season tour of Germany.

The Telegraph reports that a deal is imminent, and Leeds manager Daniel Farke is poised to address a key issue in his squad. The right-back position has been problematic, with Luke Ayling departing, Connor Roberts returning to Burnley after his loan spell, and Archie Gray sold to Tottenham.

While Sam Byram can play at right-back, persistent rumors about Junior Firpo’s long-term future at the club might necessitate Byram’s presence at his natural left-back position.

After missing three of the first four games last season, Bogle played in every other Premier League match for Sheffield United, except one game he missed due to suspension for accumulating yellow cards. He scored three goals during a challenging season for the relegated Blades, with strikes against Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

Bogle moved to Bramall Lane from Derby County, where he progressed through the youth ranks and made his debut for the Rams in 2018. His signing will follow those of Joe Rodon, Alex Cairns, and Joe Rothwell, making him Leeds’ fourth acquisition of the summer.
