Martin, 28, had a stellar campaign with Genoa last season, emerging as one of Europe’s most creative defenders with eight assists in 36 Serie A appearances.

West Ham are seeking reinforcements at left-back following Aaron Cresswell’s departure.

Martin, who has amassed over 250 senior appearances, brings significant experience, having featured in La Liga, the Bundesliga, and Serie A.

The Spanish defender, capable of playing in a traditional back four or as a wing-back, made 38 appearances across all competitions for Genoa during the 2024–25 season as they finished 13th in the league.

He joined the Italian side on a free transfer from Mainz two years ago and remains under contract until June 2026.

A former Spain Under-21 international, Martin is seen as a potential key signing for West Ham, with only Emerson – whose current deal expires in 2026 – and 18-year-old Oliver Scarles available in the left-back position.

In addition to targeting Martin, West Ham are also actively pursuing a new goalkeeper. According to Football Insider (10 June), the club are “definitely” in the market for a first-team shot-stopper.

Łukasz Fabiański, 40, has left the Hammers after a distinguished seven-year stint and 215 appearances. His departure opens the door for Alphonse Areola, 32, to assume the number one role.

However, internal sources have suggested there are “concerns” within the club regarding his capacity to fully take on the responsibility.
