Leeds United could secure an ‘exciting’ talent in Coventry City’s Callum O’Hare to potentially fill the void left by Crysencio Summerville or Georginio Rutter if they firm up their interest. Former Aston Villa, Tottenham, and Rangers defender Alan Hutton, who worked with a young O’Hare at Villa Park, supports this idea. Leeds manager Daniel Farke is exploring various options in the summer transfer market but may need to replace key players before the deadline.
Summerville and Rutter are among those who might be sold as Leeds addresses financial deficits. Italian winger Willy Gnonto is also linked with a move away, increasing Farke’s need for creative options. Coventry playmaker O’Hare has been identified as a potential target.
The 26-year-old played a significant role in Coventry’s Championship season and FA Cup run, scoring 10 goals in 36 appearances for Mark Robins’ side. His notable performance included a goal at Wembley in the dramatic FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United, which ended in a penalty shootout loss. With his contract expiring this summer, O’Hare is set to leave Coventry in search of a new challenge.
Hutton, who knows O’Hare’s capabilities well, believes he could significantly impact Leeds if they make a move. “He fits the bill that Leeds like, he’s an exciting player,” Hutton told Football Insider. “Especially if they’re going to lose somebody like Summerville or Rutter this summer.”
“They’ll need to bring in someone to replace these guys. I know Callum O’Hare well, having played alongside him at Villa. He’s very technically gifted, has an eye for a pass, can score goals, and has experience at this level. He’s still at a good age and fits what Leeds are looking for.”
Leeds are still awaiting a firm offer for Summerville, with Brighton the first club to express interest. Liverpool and Chelsea have also been linked with the £35 million-rated Dutchman, and his future is likely to be decided in the coming weeks.
