Leeds United have already wrapped up six summer signings, with more expected as Daniel Farke looks to finalise his squad ahead of a crucial survival campaign.

The club’s transfer strategy has so far addressed key areas in a clear sequence—first defence, then midfield, and finally goalkeeper.

However, recent rumours suggesting a move for Al Ahli midfielder Franck Kessie have been swiftly debunked.

Over the weekend, speculation emerged from Middle Eastern X account @bt3, which claimed that Leeds had submitted a bid for the Ivorian international.

With over 1.2 million followers, the post quickly gained traction among Leeds fans, sparking curiosity about a potential marquee addition to the midfield.

Despite the buzz, two credible sources have already shut down the story.

The first came from head coach Daniel Farke himself, who spoke during pre-season in Germany, firmly stating that the midfield department is no longer an area of interest in the market.

“Central defence is sorted, central midfield is sorted,” he confirmed via LeedsLive. “In all the other positions, we are still in the market… so that means, of course, also in the wide position of the defence.”

Further reinforcing Farke’s stance, journalist Ben Jacobs also reported that there is no truth to the Kessie links, confirming that Leeds are not exploring a move for the former AC Milan star.

Kessie joined Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli from Barcelona in the summer of 2023, amid a flurry of high-profile moves to the Gulf nation.

He currently shares the dressing room with European talents like Edouard Mendy, Riyad Mahrez, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Ivan Toney.

For Leeds, however, midfield reinforcements have already arrived in the form of Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach, adequately bolstering the double pivot options.

Unless key players like Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, or Ao Tanaka depart, further additions in this area are not expected.

With five players available for two or three midfield roles, Leeds are well-stocked centrally and must now shift focus towards strengthening the attack.
