Leeds United’s Victory Over Cardiff City Leads to Erol Bulut’s Dismissal and Appointment of Interim Boss

Cardiff City have sacked manager Erol Bulut following their latest defeat, a 2-0 loss to Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.

The Championship side’s board acted swiftly after a fifth league loss in six games, leaving the club four points adrift of safety in the relegation battle.

The Bluebirds’ winless start to the season continued with the defeat to Leeds, marking Cardiff’s worst start to a season in 94 years under Bulut’s leadership.

Despite signing a two-year contract in June, Bulut was dismissed just six league games into the new season.

Assistant manager Nikolaos Karydas has also been relieved of his duties.

In a brief statement, Cardiff City announced: “Cardiff City Football Club can confirm First Team Manager Erol Bulut has been relieved of his duties and will leave the Club with immediate effect.

“The Board of Directors wish to thank Erol for all of his hard work and wish him well for the future.

First Team Coach Nikolaos Karydas will also depart and leaves with the Club’s best wishes.

Further backroom staff confirmation will follow in due course.

“Omer Riza will take charge of the First Team on an interim basis while the Club looks to recruit a new permanent First Team manager.”
