Leicester City Pursue Ruud van Nistelrooy as Steve Cooper’s Replacement
After Cooper’s departure, Leicester fans were vocal about their preferences for a new manager, with many calling for Ruud van Nistelrooy or Graham Potter to take charge and revive their 2024/25 campaign.
Potter, currently unemployed after his Chelsea dismissal, and Van Nistelrooy, who recently left Manchester United, emerged as top choices among supporters.
Journalist Rudy Galetti provided an update on the managerial search via X/Twitter, revealing Leicester’s active interest in Van Nistelrooy.
He stated, “Leicester have approached Ruud van Nistelrooy to explore the negotiation margins to replace Steve Cooper.
David Moyes and other names are under evaluation, but LCFC would like to convince the Dutch manager as a priority.”
Potential Candidates for the Leicester City Job
While Van Nistelrooy remains a favored option—having recently overseen victories over Leicester with 5-2 and 3-0 scorelines—several other names are reportedly in contention for the role.
Jose Mourinho, a fan favorite, is among the potential candidates. Erik ten Hag, who Van Nistelrooy briefly succeeded at Manchester United, is also rumored to be an option.
Other names linked to the vacancy include Mark Robins, Carlos Corberan, Michael Carrick, and Liam Rosenior, each offering a unique approach to steering the Foxes away from their current struggles.
