“Leicester City Fans Furious Over Delayed FA Decision: ‘Too Little, Too Late'”

Leicester City Outraged by FA Decision This Week

Leicester City are set to return to Premier League action this weekend against Aston Villa.

The Foxes enter the fixture in a precarious position, having dropped to 19th in the Premier League table.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side has struggled recently, compounded by a tough run of games.

Expected defeats against Liverpool and Manchester City were setbacks, but the 3-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers felt like a significant blow to their survival hopes.

Key to Wolves’ victory was Matheus Cunha, their top scorer in the 2024/25 season.

However, controversy has since erupted around Cunha, as Leicester fans express anger over the timing of a ban imposed on him by the FA.

Leicester Fans Furious Over FA’s Handling of Matheus Cunha Ban

Before Wolves faced Leicester on December 22, Cunha was charged by the FA for removing the glasses of an Ipswich Town coach during their December 14 match.

Despite this, he was not banned before the Leicester game, during which he scored twice and provided an assist, helping Wolves secure vital points and leapfrog the Foxes in the table.

On Tuesday, the FA finally confirmed Cunha’s two-game suspension, leading to widespread frustration among Leicester fans. Many took to social media to vent their dissatisfaction.

One fan remarked, “It’s incredibly frustrating that this decision comes after he played in two games, scoring and being crucial to wins, including the one against Leicester.

While Leicester were poor that day, Cunha was central to Wolves’ success.”

Another added, “Matheus Cunha suspended for two games for an incident on December 14.

Since then, he’s scored two goals and helped Wolves earn seven points from nine, moving them out of the relegation zone.”

A third commented on the leniency of the punishment, writing, “How can you get only a two-game ban for something as serious as an MMA elbow to a steward’s head?

If this happened to a player during a match, it would’ve been at least three games.”

Others criticized the timing, with one fan noting, “They couldn’t ban this guy earlier?” and another calling the situation a “joke” since one of Cunha’s missed games is an FA Cup tie against Bristol City.

FA Issues Statement on Cunha Ban

Leicester supporters argue that had Cunha been banned before their match, the Foxes might not find themselves in the relegation zone.

The delayed decision has left many feeling the punishment is both inadequate and poorly timed.

In a statement, the FA explained:

“Matheus Cunha has been suspended for two games and fined £80,000 following the Premier League fixture between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town on December 14, 2024.

The forward was charged with misconduct for improper behavior after the final whistle.

He admitted the charge, and an independent Regulatory Commission imposed the sanctions.

Full written reasons for the case will be published in due course.”

For Leicester City, the timing of the ban offers little solace as they continue their fight to escape relegation.

Fans remain disheartened by what they see as a delay that has cost their team dearly.
