Tottenham Hotspur could be poised to make a statement signing under new manager Thomas Frank, with reports suggesting they may attempt to lure one of Liverpool’s most exciting young stars to north London.
The Spurs squad have just returned from a dramatic conclusion to their Asian pre-season tour, which ended with a lively encounter against Newcastle United.

The South Korean icon sealed a record-breaking move to Los Angeles FC in Major League Soccer, closing the chapter on an extraordinary 10-year spell in north London.
However, the trip ended on a sour note when star midfielder James Maddison suffered a fresh blow to the same knee injury that kept him sidelined at the end of last season.
The England international was stretchered off, leaving Spurs with a serious creative void.
Frank’s side now face Bayern Munich in their final pre-season friendly at the Allianz Arena before turning their attention to a high-profile UEFA Super Cup showdown with Paris Saint-Germain.
This clash against Luis Enrique’s reigning European champions offers the new boss an immediate chance to secure silverware, just months after Ange Postecoglou ended Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought.
Yet, the manager could be forced into this challenge with a depleted squad, given Maddison’s absence and Son’s departure.
The need for a new playmaker is urgent. Spurs were close to landing Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White last month, with a medical scheduled and a £60 million deal seemingly agreed.
However, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis blocked the transfer, threatened legal action, and convinced Gibbs-White to commit to a lucrative £150,000-a-week contract.
With that pursuit dead in the water, Tottenham’s focus turned elsewhere, but another target, ex-Stuttgart midfielder Enzo Millot, has now joined Al-Ahli.
