Leicester City Injury Update: Monga, Faes, and Kristiansen Set for Return Ahead of Liverpool Clash
Jeremy Monga, Wout Faes, Victor Kristiansen, and ineligible Facundo Buonanotte absent at Brighton as McAteer, Coulibaly, Evans, and Aluko step in
Leicester City are set to welcome back three players for their upcoming clash with title challengers Liverpool, after missing the trio in their 2-2 draw at Brighton.
Wout Faes, Victor Kristiansen, and Jeremy Monga were all absent from the squad that ended City’s losing streak at the Amex Stadium.
Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy had previously confirmed Faes was dealing with a minor injury, ruling the Belgian defender out of the Brighton fixture.
Monga, the 15-year-old who debuted against Newcastle, missed out due to an ankle knock, while Kristiansen was absent for personal reasons.
However, all three are expected to be available for Sunday’s match.
“Jeremy had a small injury, a knock on his ankle, so he couldn’t be here today,” van Nistelrooy explained.
“It looks like he and Wout can be available. Victor was out due to personal circumstances, but he’ll be back next week.”
City will also be boosted by the return of Facundo Buonanotte, who was ineligible to face his parent club Brighton.
His availability further strengthens the squad ahead of the Liverpool showdown.
In Brighton, van Nistelrooy turned to youth, calling up Kasey McAteer, Woyo Coulibaly, Jake Evans, and Bade Aluko to fill in.
Notably, Evans and Aluko were chosen over senior players Jannik Vestergaard, Harry Winks, and Odsonne Edouard, with van Nistelrooy opting not to include any fit senior centre-backs on the bench.
With Faes, Kristiansen, and Buonanotte back, and barring any new injuries, Leicester will have a full squad to choose from.
This could mean at least four fit senior players will be left out of the matchday squad for Sunday’s crucial game.
