West Ham United and Crystal Palace are reportedly keen on signing Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, as reported by talkSPORT.
The 25-year-old was notably omitted from Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the United States, prompting several Premier League clubs to show increased interest in acquiring him this summer.
Chalobah, who has been described as a ‘soldier’ by former manager Graham Potter, is among the players Chelsea aims to offload before the transfer window closes on August 30.
Alongside Chalobah, Romelu Lukaku and Armando Broja are also on the transfer list, but none have yet attracted substantial interest from other clubs. Chelsea is keen to raise funds for new acquisitions, with several reinforcements, particularly at goalkeeper and striker positions, expected.
Chelsea recently signed 19-year-old left-back Caleb Wiley from Atlanta United on a six-year contract, marking their latest addition. According to talkSPORT, West Ham is ready to pursue Chalobah if they can first offload either Kurt Zouma or Nayef Aguerd. Both players have been linked with moves away from the London Stadium since last year.
New manager Julen Lopetegui is anticipated to seek another central defender to partner with Max Kilman, who recently joined from Wolves in a £40 million deal and signed a seven-year contract.
West Ham could soon seek a new centre-back partner for Kilman, with Chalobah being a potential target. Despite a strong finish to last season, Chalobah, a Chelsea academy product, is expected to leave, with Crystal Palace also monitoring his situation.
The Eagles are considering Chalobah as a potential replacement for Marc Guehi, whose long-term future at Selhurst Park is uncertain.
In addition, West Ham has made an ‘initial proposal’ for Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville, according to Fabrizio Romano. Romano’s update on X reveals that West Ham has engaged in discussions with Summerville’s representatives about a move to the London Stadium.
The transfer is considered ‘very expensive’ as Leeds aims to secure a significant return for the Championship Player of the Season.
Romano also notes that Serie A club Roma has added Summerville to their shortlist, as a backup option in case their pursuit of Juventus winger Matias Soule does not materialize.
